Coming of Valium (diazepam) is one of the toughest drugs to quit. The physical dependence is so very strong and can cause seizures, fitting, delirium, panic attacks and all kinds of strange feelings such as depersonalization-derealization ect... I think Benzos and Gabapentin are very similar in that regard, both of which can kill just from the withdrawals. I take a prescription for Gabapentin and I once ran out and experienced the worst withdrawals for a couple of days. I am now terrified of not having them at hand or running out. I put in for my repeat prescription one week in advance to make sure I have collected them with several days to go. I thought my heart was going to burst out of my chest and I had feelings of severe panic and anxiety with delirium coming on very quickly with visual disturbances and flashing light auras galore. To quit these type of drugs you really need professional help and guidance with a modern hyperbolic taper because the old way of halving each step will not cut it. The smaller the amount you need to reduce makes each step near the end the steepest steps and the greatest fall. Titrating is the way to go, reducing tiny steps toward the end, even though you can half your doses at the beginning with no real noticeable bumps at first. Going slowly like this will also give you time to adjust for unexpected whacks like maybe a panic attack or sudden feelings of anxiety like a bad day or two as your brain begins to come online again. If you take Benzos for a long period of time as with Gabapentin you face up to a 83% more chance of developing dementia which is a very startling thing to think about all by itself. That is how much these drugs affect the entire brain when used for long periods of time. I already have Aphasia which is mild but it still annoys me not remembering names, places or the can't quite think of that word on the tip of my tongue syndrome.

I grew up in Dundee and can boast a large family there but we have all drifted apart as families so often do. It was great to see mention of my first work place where I assisted the artist in the art department of DC Thomsons for a time in the 1960s. My grandfather was a Black Watch member during the second war and played the Last Call on the bugle for the unveiling of the war memorial at the top of the Law Hill. Thank you for sharing a fine collection of film portraying my home city. I will forever miss Dundee.

I live in Dundee. My advice would be to avoid the town during the day. It’s just full of crack heads and heroin addicts, and if so choose to go and you’re there long enough you’re most likely going to see a fight/argument between these people. Since Covid, so many shops have closed down. I remember back in the day, me and my pals used to meet up at my mates house then we’d get the bus into town every Saturday to spend our weekly wages on clothes and some food. Then hit the DW gym before it unfortunately closed down. Then we’d meet at a mates house for pre drinks and head down the Perth road to all the good pubs, atmosphere was brilliant. Then finish the night going to fattys (Fat Sam’s) or liquid. Those days are long gone. If you go in the town during the day all you see is fucking crack and smack heads wandering about out their head. Total shame how bad this city has got. The younger generation have no respect for their elders either, they hang around in groups all dressed in black influenced by these drill artists they see on UA-cam from London and want to be like them. Vandalising bus shelters and causing trouble where ever they are. I’d be ashamed if my son or daughter was involved in any of the activities these young anes are participating in. They need taught a serious lesson, harsher punishments. It was never as bad as it now when I was growing up and I dread to see what it’s like when my own son is a teenager. The council do absolutely fuck all about it. They spend millions on unnecessary things when we’ve got kids living (surviving) in poverty with homeless drug addicts. The city is eating itself and it’s so sad to see, I used to be proud to call Dundee home, not anymore.

I can't understand someone taking diazepam recreationally. I get it from the Dr and have to take it when I am in distress I hate taking it I can't function on it I feel groggy and it takes 3 days for 1 tablet to wear off I get no enjoyment out of taking it whatsoever
